Ok. The first thing I noticed when I tried to create a blog was how many blog names were not available. I seem to be behind the curve again. I tried:
Sound and Fury
Signifying Nothing
Last Resort
Bottom of the Barrel
all of which seemed like appropriate names for a web study project blog. However, they were taken, taken, taken...
I fell back on goneawaylake, the title of one of my favorite children's books. But is it legal? Ah well, I am hoping that this blog languishes in the quiet obscurity it deserves.

I'm pretty sure you can't copyright a title of a book, so you're safe.
Oddly enough, my username came about in a very similar fashion. After trying all the cool movie and book references we could think of, my mom just made up a word. Of course, I love it now because it is always available.
Hopefully the rest of the project will be less painful for you.
I loved that book! I think I need to re-read it now...
I agree that the hardest thing in these assignments is figuring out what to be called. And once you commit to a name, it is hard to change later!
Not a chance of your blog fading away into obscurity...not with all the active Web 2.0 participants around here.
Welcome!
